Fenf 1981, he started the abstract painting which inspired by his teacher Yu Youhan. In 1990, Feng Lianghong graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, moved to New York, USA, and stayed in the cradle of abstract expressionism for 16 years until he returned to China in 2006.

　　Feng Lianghong's abstract painting has a similar form to abstract expressionist painting, but the two have essential differences. The main purpose of abstract expressionist painting is to express artist's various emotions and feelings, and Feng Lianghong's works are to present his personal inner life state, quiet, comfortable, peaceful, turbulent and nervous… By using traditional painting materials and tools such as canvas, oil paint, brushes and scrapers, his works seem to write at one stretch, but they are all done through layers and elaborates in a long-lasting process."At a distance to see the form, details appears while getting closer." Feng Lianghong not only attaches importance to the overall structure of the work, pursues the smooth flow of the scene; but also focuses on each partial processed. He believes that the charm of abstract painting lies in the touching of details. Feng Lianghong's abstract painting has the isomorphism between the inner life state and the external painting appearance. Videlicet, there is a commonality between his inner mentality and the physical state of the painting material, so his abstract works have the temperature of life. Each color and shape reveals a password of emotion, and each line reflects the rhythm of the heartstring.

　　Feng Lianghong believes that abstract painting is the time and space of growth. It includes both objective external time and space, as well as human psychological time and space. His abstract works are the time and space of his material and spiritual by building with color. Feng Lianghong said that "abstract painting is cultivated." From this point of view, the success or failure of abstract art depends on the richness or poverty of the artist's spirit. In fact, Feng Lianghong's work has always maintained a quality of nobleness and elegance.
