隋唐以来黄色成为皇帝的御用色，黄釉瓷器也从诸多色釉瓷器中脱颖而出，成为皇室的御用瓷，永乐、宣德时的同类器施釉略厚，色泽较深，黄釉色渊近似洪武二十五年，而瓷器上纯正的黄釉，始自明永宣年间，冯先铭先生在《中国陶瓷》中亦提到：“明代黄釉自永宣朝开始，已经烧制得相当成功”。观现有资料而吉，黄釉瓷始至永宣是有证可循的、中历代陶瓷上的黄釉，根据釉料成分和烧成温度的不同，可分为低温黄釉与高温黄釉两种。高温黄釉是含少量铁分的石灰釉，在高温氧化气氛中生成三氧化二铁，呈现黄色．以唐代寿州窑的黄釉最为典型、包括在唐三彩和宋三彩的陶器上亦有深浅不同的黄褐色釉低温黄釉即铅釉，是一种以铅为熔剂、以氧化铁为着色剂在850℃至900℃之间烧成的黄釉、色较淡，釉面薄。“娇黄”、“浇黄”或“鸡油黄”为烧制的最高水平。

High-temperature yellow glaze is a kind of lime glaze containing a little iron, which produces iron oxide in high-temperature oxidation atmosphere, showing yellow color. The yellow glaze of Shouzhou kiln in Tang Dynasty is the most typical one, including the yellow-brown glaze with different depth on the pottery of Tang and Song dynasties. It is lead glaze, a kind of low-temperature yellow glaze with lead as flux and iron oxide as coloring agent. The yellow glaze fired between 850 and 900 C has a light color and a thin glaze surface. "Jiaohuang", "pouring yellow" or "chicken butter yellow" are the highest levels of cooking.

瓷器釉色名。传统黄釉有两种：一，以三价铁离子着色的石灰釉，属高温釉；二，以黄釉瓷器含铁的天然矿物为着色剂，但基础釉是铅釉，属低温黄釉。明、清黄釉都是以铁为着色剂的铁黄，用氧化焰低温烧成，色黄润光滑，釉面晶莹透澈。

明宣德年制官窑青花云龙纹地浇琥珀黄釉大罐，高36厘米，此罐唇口、短直颈、鼓腹、浅圈足，器口白釉如羊脂，圈足及底无釉，胎白细而坚硬，火石红老到，铁斑点点，此罐至少二次入窑烧造，先烧青花，再在青花瓷上浇黄釉低温焙烧，黄釉盖住青花便形成深绿色纹饰。通体所绘为青花纹饰，口沿外侧绘云朵纹，肩部绘四兽面纹，中间书“宣德年制”楷书横款，腹部画一条三爪龙翱翔天际云间，矫健威武，气势磅礴，胫部绘一圈莲瓣纹，工艺精美，画功老辣，时代特征明显。

所施黄釉与一般的黄地青花不同，是以上好透明的金黄琥珀粉入釉调配均匀施于全器外表焙烧而成，黄釉肥厚莹润通透娇嫩欲滴有如细腻透明的金珀，高贵典雅美妙绝伦，配以变深绿的青花纹饰，仿佛一条伟岸的青龙在天然琥珀中畅游飞腾，真乃天工造物，鬼斧神工。黄釉釉层肥厚，青花部分釉层下凹，形成浅浮雕效果，极富立体感和层次感，青花轮廓周围绿色有晕散，黄釉下隐现蟹爪纹（或桔皮纹）。浇黄釉瓷创烧于明永乐朝，宣德时发展完善，盛于弘治、正德时期。历代帝王崇尚土德，故黄色成为帝王用色，隋唐以降黄釉瓷器亦成为皇室的御用瓷器，明清两朝更为明确规定黄釉瓷只供宫廷使用，民窑不得生产．违者严惩。这件浇琥珀黄釉大罐，是宣德官窑的精品重器，极为珍稀，世所罕见，弥足珍贵！
